When you're passionate about something it's really inspiring to see the work of those who are at the top of their game. You can learn a lot and adopt whatever is applicable to your own character and circumstances.
Inevitably we get curious about their journey, so it's really exciting to watch a video by The Hollywood Reporter magazine about Kate Young, who has topped the list of Hollywood's most powerful stylists three times in nine years.
This year, the duo Tom Eerebout and Sandra Amador, who dress Lady Gaga, has just taken the crowning glory of being at the top of the list, which takes into account star power, style and social media during the awards season.
Kate Young dresses many celebrities including Margot Robbie, Dakota Johnson and Rachel Weisz so even if you're not aware of it, you have certainly come across her work at some point. What is interesting in the video is how she related to her experience of being Anna Wintour's assistant when she was in her 20s.
How Kate Young became one of the most powerful stylists working in Hollywood was due to a series of circumstances coming together: definitely knowing the right people at the right time, her positive attitude and undoubtedly her talent.
So you cannot isolate one determining factor but many. Each of us has a different journey in life and career has such an impact that should not to be taken lightly.
Sometimes our attitude can be detrimental, if we get overwhelmed by the pain of a particular situation, we may not be able to see the underlying opportunity that could otherwise open up to us. It's always good to explore all angles and find the best way to move forward.
"What's a good lesson that you learned from Anna [Wintour]? No is not an answer. So if she asks you something and it's impossible, come up with seven other ways that you're going to accomplish something very very similar, and present them to her, done. It's a great way to know how to work with celebrities. No is a cop out, there's always an alternative."
